Home at last!

First off, a big THANK YOU!!! to my Secret Pal. When I arrived last week (still gathering myself from the move, but getting there), there was a package awaiting me, saying "welcome home!" I can't decide what I like best - the lovely green handspun from Collinette (which will make my eyes even greener and gives me hope for my own spinning efforts - once I get the wheel set up again), the fuzzy orange loveliness or the Michigan birding book (which I have been going through nearly daily). There were also some lovely candles and a wonderful little necklace - hibiscus flowers made from polymer clay. I love everything! THANK YOU!!!

Knitting - have been working on Sonnet. I've been riding along with D in the big truck, and last week he needed naps before we got home. Since I'd already slept, I ended up waiting in the drivers seat for a few hours, which meant great knitting time, listening to audiobooks or music and knitting along. Then I ran out of yarn, and hadn't discovered where I'd packed the other big ball for Sonnet. *sigh* Dug up an old baby blanket - blue, so not helpful with the current crop of girl babies expected - and worked on that. Started a Big Bad Baby Blanket from Stitch N Bitch, but messed up on the seed stitch and need to start again...*sigh* again. Then Sunday I found the big ball o yarn for Sonnet, so I'm back with that. I'm on the front panel now, then just need to do sleeves and my first ever sweater will be complete!!! It's turning out quite lovely - the variegations in the yarn (which I recycled from a thrift store aran, and handpainted with a combo of Koolaid (so it still smells sweet) and easter egg dyes) are working into lovely variations.

It is much more humid and warm here - I didn't realize how wonderful the Pacific Northwest was for year round knitting... but if I chose my times well, I can also do it here. Mainly, I'm just amazingly happy to be here - it's better than I ever expected it to be and I am just blissed out.
